Los Angeles County Metro Orange Line electric bus at a charging station

Los Angeles County Metro Orange (G) Line Electrification

Budget: $80M

Marc’s team at LA Metro led the conversion of the Orange Line (G) Line from CNG to Full Battery Electric.  This included procurements of 45 total electric buses from BYD and New Flyer. For this project, 5.7 MW of chargers were installed across 4 locations.   8 en-route SAE3105-1 chargers across 3 terminals; and 10 150 kW chargers were deployed at the depot.

This project was the first USA demonstration of interoperability between 2 bus manufacturers on SAE3105-1; and it was the first deployment of SAE3105-1 on a BYD bus.
